As most of us would have heard by now, late last year the Government announced a 900 dollar cash bonus to stimulate the economy. Eligible families will receive their cash bonus between now and mid May 2009. Here is a checklist to see if you are eligible for this cash bonus:

* Should have lodged 2007-08 tax return (or should lodge it before June 2009)
* If your taxable income is up to $80,000 in 2007-08 then you get $900
* If your taxable income is between $80,001 and $90,000 in 2007-08 then you get $600
* If your taxable income is between $90,001 and $100,000 in 2007-08 then you get $250

If you are eligible then you don’t have to do anything to claim it. The cheque will be posted to you or if Tax Office has your bank details then they will direct credit it to your account. You donot have to pay any tax on this bonus nor do you have to declare it as income in your next tax return.
