Grocery Choice MakeOver By Choice

By Sandy Naidu | December 24, 2008

The Federal Government launched the Grocery Choice website a few months ago. The aim was to provide consumers with an unbiased platform for comparing grocery prices. I had written my views about this website and as my readers know I was not very impressed. The aim was good but it really did not have the features that it should have had.

I have some good news now - Choice Magazine will be taking over the Grocery Choice website in 2009 and will be relaunching it in July 2009. The existing website will be online up until then. I have always respected Choice’s work in having an unbiased view of any product/market it did an analysis on. And so I am really excited about Grocery Choice going into their hands. Some of the new features are:

1. Choice will be providing weekly pricing…Currently the site is updated only once a month.

2. Currently there are around 500 unnamed products, divided into basket of goods - This is really of not much use to the consumers. It sounds like an economics text book. Choice, on the other hand will be naming the products and comparing the prices of these individual products - There are going to be about 4000 products.

3. Specials in individual supermarkets are going to be published.

4. The look and the feel of the website is going to be new and improved.

Choice is currently running an online survey to get your feedback. Please leave your comments in the comments box at the end of this article - Choice Grocery.

I am looking forward to the changeover and really hope that Choice does a good job.
