It’s My Birthday Today
By Sandy Naidu | November 14, 2008
Today is my birthday - my 36th birthday. I love birthdays. For me, it is a good time to reflect on my past year, learn from my mistakes, complement myself on my achievements, make new goals and move forward.
The past few years has been quite a learning curve for me. In my twenties I had a sense of urgency about everything - ‘rush, rush rush’ was my mantra then. My outlook has changed a fair bit in the past few years - I have learned to relax.
Don’t get me wrong - I am still as driven now as I was in my twenties (if not more). But the way I approach things is very different now.
My biggest lesson has been that emotional well being is far more important than a professional one. I have learned to be happy - Previously I don’t think I ever gave myself time to be happy. For instance even when I was out jogging, I had some or the other work stuff in my mind. But now when I go out for a jog, my mind is free of work stuff and all stuff for that matter. I am much more happier now than I ever was in my twenties.
My new emotional confidence has enabled me to reach my goals much faster than I ever did in my twenties (both professional and personal). But for me it was not easy to get to this stage. It took a lot of learning and more importantly a lot of ‘unlearning’ to get to this stage.
I have a new set of goals brewing in my mind. Since my birthday is in November, I always club my birthday goals and my new year goals together. I am going to let my goals brew a little longer in my mind, and then in a couple of weeks I am going to sit down and put them all in paper - can’t wait for that.
Now I am off to enjoy my day.

Hi Sandy,
I run Australia’s largest credit card website – http://www.CreditCards.com.au – and I’m interested in forming a partnership between our websites.
Please email me back if you’re interested and we can go from there.
Thank you
Kind Regards,
Andrew Knight
