Quicken Calendar View Tip
By FutureNestEgg | August 16, 2009
The reason it went into an overdraft is because, whenever there is extra money in my main account, I immediately transfer it into my mortgage accounts. I only keep, what I need, until I get my salary. The two times it went into an overdraft, I did the wrong calculation – and transferred more into my mortgage accounts than I should have. Quicken, thankfully takes away this calculation form my hand – it automatically displays all the up coming bill payments and mortgage payments and how much I will have outstanding on each day. All this is displayed on the calendar – This view helps me to keep the right amount in my main account and transfer the rest into my mortgage accounts.
One quick thing though – the balance that Quicken displays for each day is the sum of the balances of all accounts in your personal cash flow – in my case it is two savings account and my master card. I don’t want my personal cashflow and mastercard included in calculating this balance – because if it does it gives us a false view – all my mortgage outgoings are from my main savings account and so I don’t want the other savings account balance included in my calendar view.
So make sure your calendar view balance includes only the right accounts – Right click on calendar and select/de select your accounts.
