Savings On Electricity And Gas Comparison Website

By FutureNestEgg | January 20, 2009

ChoiceSwitch.com.au is a comparison website run by Choice Magazine. They currently offer comparisons for your gas and electricity charges. In future they will be extending this service to broadband and phone bills as well. The website is very easy to use.

Here is what you have to do:

1. Grab your most recent electricity and phone bil.
2. Hop on to ChoiceSwitch.com.au
3. Click Gas and Electricity
4. Enter your post code
5. You have to enter some details about your current billing with your current provider. Some of this information might not be on the bill (at least mine was not). Call your current provider and get the information.

My current provider is AGL and for my usage and postcode, it said that if I move to Origin then I save around 78 dollars a year. I am undecided at the moment and not sure if I will move straight away. One thing I am not sure about though is the thing about peak and off peak meters. I know there is no such thing as a off peak for gas. For electricity, AGL offers an off peak meter (called Interval meter). I have to get some more information about the cost of installing this etc…I actually tried today – very bad customer service. I was on the phone for 38 minutes (being transferred from one person to the other and at the end of it no one could help me).
