Watch Lists – Starting Point For ShareMarket Investing

By FutureNestEgg | July 21, 2008

A Watch List is a list that you set up to monitor the price of stocks and the value of your portfolio. It records the daily price movements and also has historical price information for each of the stocks on the list. If you already own one or more of the stocks in the list, then the list will also calculate your portfolio value at the end of each trading day.

watchlists I currently want to monitor the movements of the top 20 ASX stocks.

So I have set up a list with the stocks that make up the S&P/ASX 20 Index (you can get more information about the stocks in different indices by going through the Indices section of ASX website).

I am using the watchlist area in the registered section of ASX website. On ASX site you can set up to 15 watch lists. Most brokers have a watch list sections on their websites as well. So if you have a broker, you might want to try their website.
